Feature on imersia.gr – Roller Kappatos: From Pitsos and Greek Homes to a ‘Global Player’ in 15 Markets

The Greek company with accessories we all have in our homes—without even knowing it.
“Never forget where you started and which market created you.” This invaluable advice from Theofilos N. Kappatos to his namesake son, Theofilos Junior, when he took over the reins of Roller Kappatos, was what defined his entrepreneurial path. These words serve as the response to the suggestion that he focus solely on international markets and set aside the Greek market. In essence, they became the foundation upon which the company’s success was built.
Roller Kappatos, a company with a 54-year history that started from a simple idea by the now 90-year-old father while working at Pitsos, has successfully established a strong presence in 15 foreign markets. The company managed to enter every Greek household and expand internationally, mainly through wheeled and other bases for large electrical appliances, as well as baking trays.
The Greek company Roller Kappatos is experiencing impressive growth, achieving an annual 20% increase in its turnover, reaching €4.5 million, thanks to its strong export activity. It expects the same growth rate, aiming to reach €5.5 million by 2025.
As CEO Theofilos Kappatos Jr. stated during an informational event, the company’s turnover in 2024 reached €4.5 million, marking a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Roller Kappatos now holds a leading position in the home appliance accessories industry, offering a wide range of products, including wheeled bases for white goods, electric grills, and stainless steel or enameled baking trays, fully meeting consumer needs.
With continuous investments in technology and equipment, the company is implementing an extensive investment plan worth €3 million. A significant portion of these investments is directed toward the development of a state-of-the-art factory, equipped with cutting-edge machinery, to support the company’s further growth until 2030. At the same time, Roller Kappatos is implementing innovative technological solutions, such as robotic assembly and automated painting systems, while advancing a full digital transformation.
The company has a strong international footprint, exporting its products to 15 countries, including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Singapore, and Australia. Seventy percent of its turnover comes from international markets, confirming its global competitiveness. In 2025, Roller Kappatos is further expanding its export activity, targeting new markets such as Romania, Serbia, Latvia, and Denmark.
Mr. Kappatos emphasized: “Despite being a historic Greek company with more than 50 years of presence, our commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability remains non-negotiable. Our goal is to create products that make consumers’ daily lives easier, while respecting the environment and society.”
From its early steps in a small workshop in Gyzi in 1971, Roller Kappatos has grown into a global player in the home appliance accessories sector. Today, its factory in Oinofyta, Boeotia, employs 70 workers. “We face a labor shortage, so we hire employees and train them ourselves,” said Mr. Kappatos.

Roller Kappatos’ upward trajectory came to an abrupt halt in the early 2010s with the onset of the economic crisis. “We went from having production lines operating daily with 15-20 people, supplying products across Greece, to a dramatic drop in demand, leaving only 3-4 of us working just three times a week,” said Theofilos Kappatos Jr.
In search of a solution, he packed a box of products and participated in an industry trade show in Frankfurt. His booth was barely large enough to fit himself and a washing machine he had rented from a local store to showcase the bases manufactured by the company.
Fortunately, an entrepreneur took an interest, and that encounter proved to be a turning point, as he remains Roller Kappatos’ largest client to this day.
Facing the Challenges of Cost
The challenge of rising raw material costs, particularly in the sector of metal components, remains significant. However, the company is proactively addressing these challenges by investing in energy efficiency and sustainable solutions. Despite the higher procurement costs of steel and aluminum, Roller Kappatos maintains its competitiveness by leveraging local value chains and solidifying its position as a trusted partner for major home appliance manufacturers.
The company holds a leading global position, ranking just behind two Chinese and one Italian competitor in sales. “One of them was actually our customer and copied us,” revealed Mr. Kappatos. He also noted that their immediate plans include the production of white appliance cleaning products, which they aim to introduce to the market at more competitive prices.
